Jeronimus van der Leeden
Bergen, 1963
He grew up in art and was trained in sculpture and painting by his father sculptor Gerard van der Leeden, and mother painter Charlotte Kruymel. After the Academy in Eindhoven, he further trained himself in sculpture under Sculptor Karel Gomes.
For him, design is a language for communicating and conveying emotions. Creating a good image is more than an illustration of 'reality' and conveying emotion is an important aspect of this.
His preference is for portrait and animal plastic, but also abstract work in which movement, tension and the play of light and shadow play an important role.
To be able to depict the beauty of the interior, he works in an associative way. It is a constant search, in which abstract images have the same laws as figurative ones.
