This vase is inspired by De Stijl, a Dutch art movement, named after De Stijl magazine, founded in Leiden in 1917. The most important members of De Stijl were Theo van Doesburg, Piet Mondrian, Vilmos Huszár, Bart van der Leck, Antony Kok, JJP Oud, Jan Wils, Robert van 't Hoff, Gerrit Rietveld and Georges Vantongerloo. De Stijl is primarily a project of artist and publicist Theo van Doesburg, the self-proclaimed founder, editor and propagandist of De Stijl . The members of De Stijl strove for a radical reform of art that kept pace with the technical, scientific and social changes in the world. This reform consisted of the use of a minimum of colors (primary colors, combined with black, white and gray) and the simplest possible design (preferably according to the orthogonal system).
